Hey everybody! Episode 106 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with my friend Luke Jensen. Luke and I practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu together where I met him. Luke is a former Marine and served in Afghanistan. He now works with brain mapping and neurofeedback and is integrating this work with plant medicines. We had a long conversation and got into some really interesting and I think deep topics about war, morality, his work with brain mapping, neuroplasticity, and neurogenesis, the role of masculinity, martial arts, and systems of power. “Luke served in the Marine Corps for 6 years and eventually deployed to Afghanistan for a year with an Airborne infantry unit. After his deployment Luke spent a number of years traveling and searching for his place in the world. His adventures took him to South America where he started working with Shamans and plant medicines. At the same time Luke started working with different neurotechnologies on himself and has spent almost ten years studying the topic. Finally, a few years ago serendipity allowed Luke to meet Dr Richard Soutar and both wanted to collaborate in combining plant medicine shamanism and with neurofeedback and QEEG brain mapping. Luke has been living off and on in Peru for the last five years, and has been involved in brain research along with plant medicines and shamanism. Hey everybody! Episode 104 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Chris Kilham. Chris is also know as the Medicine Hunter and is an author, educator and yogi. He is the founder of Medicine Hunter Inc., and conducts medicinal plant research and sustainable botanical sourcing in over 45 countries. I met Chris a few years ago when I was working at the Amazonian plant medicine center, The Temple of the Way of Light, where Chris came together with his wife Zoe Helen (who I hope to have on in the next few episodes), and brought a group of guests there. Chris is really interesting guy and has led a fantastic life of exploration, discovery, and education in the field of plant medicine. He is the author of a number of book including Ayahuasca Test Pilots Handbook: The Essential Guide to Ayahuasca Journeying, The Five Tibetans, and The Lotus and The Bud: Cannabis, Consciousness, and Yoga Practice. Joan is the author of a very good book that I read, Masters of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q'ero of Peru, when I moved to and became interested in the Andean cosmovision. Joan has spent many years learning from a group of Andean wisdom keepers called the Qero nation. They consider themselves direct descendants of the Incas. They have a beautiful, simple, practical, nature-based cosmovison that I think is very relevant to the time we are living in. Joan has done a beautiful job at translating both the words, concepts, and worldview of the Qero, no easy feat! I really enjoyed speaking to Joan and having her share in her knowledge and wisdom.
