Hey everybody! Episode 188 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with my friend Marta Wanderlust for her second appearance on the podcast—the first was five years ago, back in episode 16. Since then, Marta has become a mother of two, and this conversation centers largely on motherhood and the birthing process. We explore the parallels between birth and plant medicine ceremonies, birth as an initiation and threshold, the medicalization of childbirth and its downsides, and how birth itself can be a path to God. Marta also speaks to the role of Christ and faith, the reclamation of women’s sovereignty, and what that return of power could mean for a society less dependent on institutions and hierarchy. This was a deeply fascinating conversation about life, and Marta’s grounded, experiential wisdom truly shines through. I trust you’ll gain a lot from this one. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy!

“Marta is a mother, published author, an experienced teacher and facilitator, and a lifelong spiritual explorer dedicated to the individual and collective journey of radical awakening. She fell in love with Yoga at 14 and eventually lived, studied and taught in India, where she also met her dear spiritual teacher. For the past 12 years, Marta has immersed herself in the shamanic healing traditions of the Americas, studying with the wisdom keepers from various indigenous communities. Marta draws from all of her studies creating loving yet potent spaces of transformation. Her unique space holding weaves together ancestral teachings and plant medicine wisdom, trauma integration, psychospiritual inquiry, embodiment practices, breathwork and the modern mind-body science. Marta is passionate about the symbolic journey from darkness to light, which she has intimately shared in her book, Miracles from the Abyss. She lives in the Sacred Valley, Peru, with her husband and two children, where she also hosts occasional in-person retreats.”
